[2008/02/04 10:55] Beyers Sellers: but I would love to hear people's thoughts on the right mix of SL inworld resident shows and outside speakers

[2008/02/04 10:55] Bjorlyn Loon: I think it increases credibility for all virtual worlds, and think it is an important role that Metanomics fills well, Beyers.

[2008/02/04 10:55] Beyers Sellers: the banking panels were incredibly popular

[2008/02/04 10:55] Shaun Altman: Well whether its SL residents or residents of other worlds isn't my point.

[2008/02/04 10:56] Bevan Whitfield nods

[2008/02/04 10:56] Beyers Sellers: you mean virtual businesses, vs. RL businesses?

[2008/02/04 10:56] Saijanai Kuhn: well, can you broadcsat a meeting from one world to the next?

[2008/02/04 10:56] Beyers Sellers: yes!

[2008/02/04 10:56] Saijanai Kuhn: very nice

[2008/02/04 10:57] Bevan Whitfield: Which one(s)?

[2008/02/04 10:57] IYan Writer: webkinz?

[2008/02/04 10:57] Beyers Sellers: welcome, Wintermute!

[2008/02/04 10:57] Yxes Delacroix: hi wintermute! :)

[2008/02/04 10:58] Bjerkel Eerie: try this: "Meta" form the greek "beyond" "outside" to focus internally would be "economics" Aristotle wrote "Physics" and "Metaphysics"

[2008/02/04 10:59] Shaun Altman: sorry I crashed

[2008/02/04 10:59] Alanagh Recreant: same here :) ... did Muse crash, or only me?

[2008/02/04 10:59] CDB Barkley: lost sound?

[2008/02/04 10:59] Quinn Houston: I'm still here but no sound

[2008/02/04 10:59] IYan Writer: hm, still online at muse Alanagh

[2008/02/04 10:59] Beyers Sellers: you are special, Alanagh

[2008/02/04 10:59] Alanagh Recreant: hehe... we all are

[2008/02/04 10:59] JenzZa Misfit: Muse didnt crash :::: there is just no one talking * yet*

[2008/02/04 11:00] JimmyJet Fossett: Okay the SLers heard us talking about using alt platforms and took retribution!

[2008/02/04 11:00] Alanagh Recreant: thanks Jenz!

[2008/02/04 11:00] Bevan Whitfield: lol Jimmy

[2008/02/04 11:01] JimmyJet Fossett: Yeah Bevan :-)

-- End of Log ---

[11:06] CDB Barkley: Lots of room too at NMC Campus on Outreach (98, 134,31)

[11:06] Saijanai Kuhn: can't hear a thing

[11:06] Beyers Sellers: no talking yet

[11:06] JenzZa Misfit: >>>>> next to your TALK button bottom right of screen :: click the chat bubbles icon :::then you can increase the volume on Beyers and his guest

[11:06] CDB Barkley: They just faded the music

[11:06] toster Oh: The voice volume is quite low for me as well.

[11:06] Saijanai Kuhn: can't hear ANYTHING even tyuping sounds :-)(

[11:07] Harper Beresford: make sure you cam up to them as well

[11:07] Malburns Writer: no sound here - just intro screen

[11:07] Harper Beresford: and they aren't talking right now

[11:07] Yxes Delacroix: live now

[11:07] JenzZa Misfit: ...are you accidently muted for all sounds, Saijanai ?

[11:07] Saijanai Kuhn: system sounds working just SL borked

[11:07] Harper Beresford: i hear robert just fine

[11:08] CDB Barkley: excellent

[11:08] Patroklus Murakami: yeah working :)

[11:08] Joia Sands: I hear no sounds either. I will pop ove rto NMC and see if it improves

[11:08] Quinn Houston: no sound for me at all,, maybe its not on yet?

[11:08] Caliandris Pendragon: we still have the holiding screen here

[11:08] CDB Barkley: We have sound on NMC

[11:08] arabella Ella: just started i can hear them well so far

[11:08] Universa Vanalten: i'm hearing them now

[11:08] CeAire Decosta: We have sound in Rockcliffe.

[11:08] Cindy Ecksol: we can see in CN, but video is upside down and backwards :-)

[11:09] ThePrincess Parisi: It looks good to me in CN

[11:09] ThePrincess Parisi: Colonia Nova is fine

[11:09] Patroklus Murakami: looks okay to me too in CN :)

[11:09] IYan Writer: cindy: it's a viewer thing, try turning video checkbox off and back on

[11:09] ThePrincess Parisi: stop standing on your head Cin@@

[11:09] ThePrincess Parisi: yogas over

[11:10] Quinn Houston: an I the only one who can't hear anyting?

[11:10] Caliandris Pendragon: I'm getting the sound cutting in and out

[11:10] Ninoramai Hax: What time did he say next week for the feed into SL?

[11:10] arabella Ella: my sound is fine

[11:10] Curric Vita: which location are you at, Quinn?

[11:10] Ozzy Wozniak: .

[11:11] Malburns Writer: i had sound probs - go in to frefs and turn vido play off then on again - should fix

[11:11] Yxes Delacroix: you might want to toggle video on and off... your client might be being difficult. :)

[11:11] Quinn Houston: back row at Muse Isle

[11:11] IYan Writer: (the universal SL solution)

[11:11] Cindy Ecksol: tried -- still upside down and backwards...but looks like it's ok for everyone else, so I'm not worrying

[11:11] CeAire Decosta: Sound is good in Rockcliffe.

[11:11] Chimera Cosmos: lag and crash

[11:11] Malburns Writer: toggle did not fix - needed going into preferences and doing

[11:12] Katerine Kamachi: perfect sound at ComMeta

[11:13] Mickorod Renard: yes i agree ara

[11:13] Quinn Houston: sound*

[11:13] Quinn Houston: k, I'll go over there and watch it :) thanks, unless anyone can fix why Ican't here?

[11:13] Quinn Houston: is this going to be live on the cable channel? cuz I can go catch it at my place. I have should there.

[11:14] IYan Writer: (or zoom in if you have voice tied to camera position)

[11:14] Quinn Houston: cick nearby?

[11:15] TJ Asp: its the chat history

[11:15] IYan Writer: oh - i have onrez viewer. Where's "Nearby" in SL viewer?

[11:16] Troy McLuhan: In summary, they got platform shoes in 2004

[11:16] Cindy Ecksol: if anyone still needs a place, we've got plenty of space and no lag in the CN Ampitheater in CDS http://slurl.com/secondlife/Colonia%20Nova/189/205/43/?img=%3A%20http%3A...

[11:16] IYan Writer: or just sit closer quinn :) still room in first row

[11:16] Harper Beresford: cam up with alt mouse, quinn

[11:17] Katerine Kamachi: we still have plenty of space here http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pixel%20Expo%20I/255/52/51/

[11:17] Alanagh Recreant: Quinn... for me it was as simple as changing the sound from Avatar to sound from Camera position :)

[11:18] Katerine Kamachi: We still have planty of space and good sound/video quality at ComMeta http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pixel%20Expo%20I/255/52/51/

[11:18] Curric Vita: As with every week, please send me pictures you take during the event for photo credit and inclusion on Metanomics.net...

[11:19] Aldon Huffhines: I wonder how Olive compares with OpenCroquet for distributed processing.

[11:20] Troy McLuhan: I wonder the same thing. Is it possible to run it fully peer-to-peer?

[11:21] Hydra Shaftoe: I never liked There much. they dont like furries

[11:21] Alanagh Recreant would love to hear about hardware requirements... could be very useful here, depending on requirements...

[11:22] Ninoramai Hax: I agree, Hydra. Sl tends to me much more diverse

[11:23] Ninoramai Hax: So is Forterra the one working on the AirForce build?

[11:24] JenzZa Misfit: *gasp*

[11:24] Hydra Shaftoe: it's being done in SL too

[11:24] JenzZa Misfit: <----- raises an eyebrow at Hydra

[11:24] Bevan Whitfield: *blinks*

[11:24] Alanagh Recreant: / oh wow... there must be fantastic public services training benefit...

[11:25] Ninoramai Hax: see the Virtual World Notes article on MyBase at http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2008/02/air-force-unvei.html

[11:26] JenzZa Misfit: ......hes a statistician ! not a magician !

[11:27] Typewriter Tackleberry: OMG The did not just mention virtual congress.

[11:27] Bevan Whitfield: yep, yep

[11:27] Beyers Sellers: followup, Type?

[11:27] Aldon Huffhines: And, where are things going with interoperability.... e.g. take my avatar from SL or CG and port it to Olive, OpenCroquet, etc.... Same for objects... Throw in Blender or Maya for more interopability.

[11:27] CeAire Decosta: Still need a place to sit? Rockcliffe Unversity is an event partner for today's Metanomics discussion! We have plenty of seats, snacks and punch ....come hang out with the Rockcliffe community! Here is the slurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rockcliffe%20I/150/224/69

[11:27] unintelligible Randt: I can strike them with my lamp

[11:27] Alanagh Recreant: which university was that again?

[11:27] Troy McLuhan: Magicians never reveal their secrets. Statisticians are happy to tell you how they did the calculations - but you'll wish you didn't ask

[11:27] unintelligible Randt: disregard

[11:27] Bevan Whitfield: Indiana

[11:27] Alanagh Recreant: thanks Bevan

[11:27] JenzZa Misfit: ....Troy ....... L::O::L

[11:28] Ozzy Wozniak: Within 3 to 5 years we envision the typical business worker spending large portions of their day in immersive 3D environments

[11:28] Ninoramai Hax: Ozzy, I think we are a bit farther off than that

[11:28] arabella Ella: Ozzy would that be for training or other purposes?

[11:29] Typewriter Tackleberry: Byers Let's just say Virtual Congress is in VERY early stages of development =)

[11:29] Susie Teskat: I'm here for work right now

[11:29] Hydra Shaftoe: Heh I know some of the america's army programmers and dev team on SL. used to date one :P

[11:29] JenzZa Misfit: .............gasp !

[11:29] Charm Perway: Even the military does some training in a 3d enviroment

[11:29] Bevan Whitfield raises eyebrows.

[11:29] Charm Perway: So it makes sense to be that bussinesses will follow

[11:30] JenzZa Misfit: <------- fans Bevan with a rolled up newspaper !

[11:30] arabella Ella: Airline pilots are the main people known for using sims for training

[11:30] Intellagirl Tully: Lack of ownership over the SL platform might inhibit robust development here

[11:30] Bevan Whitfield stays calm.

[11:30] Annie Sani: can someone send a tp please

[11:30] JenzZa Misfit: .....good point Intellagirl

[11:30] Charm Perway: they do training on the operation of tanks also

[11:30] Bevan Whitfield: yes vg point

[11:31] Hydra Shaftoe: There's quite a few corporations now looking into running private sl grids

[11:31] ThePrincess Parisi: i sent one annie

[11:31] Hydra Shaftoe: and its being done

[11:31] arabella Ella: but SL will soon allow other servers to link on too

[11:31] Hydra Shaftoe: on their own servers

[11:31] JenzZa Misfit: " owning land " is a skewed subjective term in SL

[11:32] Yxes Delacroix: be sure to have your vid button ON to see screen video now

[11:32] Intellagirl Tully: I never cease to be amazed by SLCN.

[11:32] Charm Perway: not only that I really can see distance learning classes happening in a 3d world

[11:32] Hydra Shaftoe <3 SLCN

[11:32] Aldon Huffhines: Hydra, do you know how much people are running private sl grids versus running OpenSim grids? for example, I'm told IBM runs over 100 OpenSim grids... I don't know what they run for SL based grids.

[11:32] Texas Timtam: :-)

[11:33] Bevan Whitfield "hearts" SLCN.

[11:33] Yxes Delacroix: thanks Hydra.. Bevan... SLCN Rocks!

[11:33] Typewriter Tackleberry: Agreed SLCN rawks the house.

[11:33] Hydra Shaftoe: I dont have any hard metrics, no. But I do know of some entities running them now. some are going with opensim, and others are running dGIG sims

[11:33] JenzZa Misfit: <----- loves SLCN so much I named my baby squid SLCN !

[11:33] Bevan Whitfield: this is amazing

[11:33] Texas Timtam: Hey. pay attention!

[11:33] Bevan Whitfield: baby squid JenzZa???

[11:33] Bevan Whitfield: ok ok

[11:33] Bevan Whitfield focuses

[11:34] Yxes Delacroix: lol JenzZa

[11:34] JenzZa Misfit: ................... he needed a home ! shhhhhhh ........

[11:34] Bevan Whitfield: Hydra, dGIG sim?

[11:34] Intellagirl Tully: I think that part of the difference between the other platforms and SL is the difference in purpose. Use SL for a simulation training and you have to teach people to use SL first, use a proprietary simulation and you only have to teach people to use the simulation

[11:34] TJ Asp: SO it's not just ME who thinks emer personel don't do a good job of scene maintenance!!!!!

[11:34] Quinn Houston: My place is a publie place so when I'm there I always have the tv on to this channel, hoping some noobs will learn something right from the start.

[11:34] Hydra Shaftoe: dGig - Distributed Global Information Grid

[11:34] Beyers Sellers: http://www.cattlab.umd.edu/index.php?page=home

[11:34] Bevan Whitfield: thanks

[11:35] TJ Asp: Don't say it.. type the URL in chat!!!

[11:35] Curric Vita: good point Intellagirl

[11:35] TJ Asp: you did

[11:35] TJ Asp: thanks

[11:35] Hydra Shaftoe: it's an intranet based SL, for closed corporate networks. opensim requires an internet connection. otherwise they're similar

[11:36] JenzZa Misfit: ..... ah .. Hydra ...so a grid that lives in a building ?!?!?!

[11:36] Hydra Shaftoe: yep

[11:36] JenzZa Misfit: ...desk to desk ?

[11:36] JenzZa Misfit: ... whoa dude

[11:36] Hydra Shaftoe: runs off .core files si its local

[11:36] Hydra Shaftoe: so*

[11:36] Bevan Whitfield: oooo man

[11:36] Bevan Whitfield wants one.

[11:36] JenzZa Misfit: <----- setting up more PCs here at home !

[11:37] JenzZa Misfit: whirrrrr / clink //// powerdrill sound / whirrrrrrr / pound pound

[11:37] Susie Teskat: this is so awesome I'm new to this and too excited to pay attention

[11:37] Dizzy Banjo: Question : Considering your work with MTV's virtual worlds, do you think there is a bigger role for virtual worlds to play in the music industry ? especially relating to independent user generated music ?

[11:37] IYan Writer: welcome Susie :)

[11:37] Bevan Whitfield hugs Susie

[11:37] Aldon Huffhines: To take that further is foterra doing stuff with augmented reality?

[11:38] Troy McLuhan: I wonder if it would be possible to build a public / open virtual world using OLIVE (akin to SL)

[11:38] JenzZa Misfit: *** BEYERS READ DIZZY BANJOS QUESTION PLEASE ***

[11:38] Hydra Shaftoe: If it's raining in the real world Chernobyl, it's raining in the SL chernobyl sim :)

[11:38] Beyers Sellers: got it

[11:38] JenzZa Misfit: :-) ... ty

[11:38] Cindy Ecksol: now THAT is cool....

[11:39] Bevan Whitfield: whoa

[11:39] Dizzy Banjo: its ok he's got it

[11:39] JimmyJet Fossett: Good point about dated Street Level type content

[11:39] Cindy Ecksol: real sensors in the real world refelcted into VR

[11:39] Intellagirl Tully: @beyers and dizzy: like MTVs Virtual Lower East side's promotion of indie bands

[11:40] Saijanai Kuhn: Will they ever support connecting their worlds to the SL worlds?

[11:40] Joia Sands: That definition of augmented reality was low volume...can someone please repeat it?

[11:41] Aldon Huffhines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality

[11:41] Nite Zelmanov: Overlaying virtual elements on your vision of the real world, like onto glasses

[11:41] JenzZa Misfit: ... SL itself ... is augmented reality ... lol

[11:41] Bjerkel Eerie: the NOAA sight displays real time weather across a walkable map in which you can walk thru ankle deep storms

[11:41] Codey Miles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality

[11:41] Aldon Huffhines: "the combination of real-world and computer-generated data"

[11:42] Zen Zeddmore: you need wearable computers to walk around drive around etc the problem is your wireles internet connection for it all.

[11:42] Aldon Huffhines: Example: Using live objects to control what is on the screen.

[11:42] JenzZa Misfit: ....thats the point of SL ....its not a game ...its augmented reality ... second LIFE ... not second pacman ..lol

[11:42] Beyers Sellers: http://news.ucf.edu/UCFnews/index?page=article&id=0024004102c4c1d9901114...

[11:42] IYan Writer: glasses from "A virtual Light" - for us gibson fans ;)

[11:42] Bevan Whitfield very strongly agrees with JenzZa.

[11:43] JenzZa Misfit: ....thats my $.02 ( L$7.22.02432 )

[11:44] JenzZa Misfit: lol

[11:44] Bevan Whitfield: url?

[11:44] Bevan Whitfield: thanks

[11:44] CeAire Decosta: Can you give me a good definition of what SL is? I cannot convince my brother it is not a game!

[11:44] Chimera Cosmos: Is anyone going to Metaverse U?

[11:44] Zen Zeddmore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2i-W9ncV_0

[11:44] Dizzy Banjo: ah ok

[11:44] Hydra Shaftoe: The way I make a living :)

[11:45] Aldon Huffhines: CeAire Well, for me, RL is a game.

[11:45] Bevan Whitfield: Try 3D internet ? ;-/

[11:45] Harper Beresford: it IS a game.. but isn't it ALL a game?

[11:45] JenzZa Misfit: ... CeAire ...it is an extention of RL ... send him in .. well get his mindset right :)

[11:45] CeAire Decosta: LOL Aldon!!

[11:45] Saijanai Kuhn: its a thingie

[11:45] Hydra Shaftoe: 3D websites yeah

[11:45] JenzZa Misfit: ....lol Saij !

[11:45] Hydra Shaftoe: Hey Hitler explained SL. Show him that!

[11:45] Aldon Huffhines: I like 3D internet with community and currency....

[11:45] Bevan Whitfield: ooo CeAire, introduce me and we'll get him straightened out.

[11:45] CeAire Decosta: I couldn't get him in here if I chained him to the computer!

[11:46] Zen Zeddmore: It's also a way of showing and sharing #D files for 3d printers.

[11:46] Saijanai Kuhn: its an obesion that still isn't making me any money

[11:46] Bjerkel Eerie: if we call evrything a "game" in renders the word a bit usless

[11:46] Aldon Huffhines: Thanks for virtual world interop question... Very important.

[11:46] Bevan Whitfield: lol Saij

[11:46] Quinn Houston: SL is a live video chat room to me.

[11:46] JenzZa Misfit: ....... it is a test of patience and endurance :: aka : VIRTUAL LIFE !

[11:46] CDB Barkley agrees with Bjerkel

[11:46] JenzZa Misfit: ....wait ...thats just the log in process !

[11:46] CeAire Decosta grins at JenzZa!

[11:46] Bevan Whitfield: lol Jenz

[11:47] arabella Ella: Q: do you see a future for increased use of Serious Games in Education at all levels? Would they not help for increased motivation and combat short attention spans?

[11:47] JenzZa Misfit: 503 Internal Missing doo Hickey Gizmo Failure

[11:47] Saijanai Kuhn: "some movements?" sigh

[11:47] CeAire Decosta: Good question arabella!

[11:47] IYan Writer: jen: ah, the "fed after midnight" error

[11:47] Quinn Houston: I have here to be with my firends that I've moved far away from. Its like I never moved at all. We do the same things in sl as we did in rl.

[11:47] Troy McLuhan: A reporter came into the SLCC last year. Asked "What IS this thing Second Life?" Loud laughter from all - because everyone has their own meaning

[11:47] Hydra Shaftoe: the ABC guy?

[11:48] Harper Beresford: well, what is the meaning of life, or second life

[11:48] JenzZa Misfit: .. Yes ! Quinn ! thats it *plus you can meet rock stars like Beyers Sellers ! * coff*

[11:48] IYan Writer: 42, harper

[11:48] Codey Miles: SL is like SimCity (plus people): more of a "toy" than a "game."

[11:48] Saijanai Kuhn: SL protocols are moving to open standards (the lindens have helped me an libsl and opensim in this)

[11:48] Aldon Huffhines: "paged terrain"?

[11:48] Bjerkel Eerie: Harper, not all sequences of words form meaningful statements

[11:49] Aldon Huffhines: THanks

[11:49] Cindy Ecksol: no, SL is not a toy!! very real...unless you're here just to play

[11:49] arabella Ella: SL can be used on so many levels ... social networking, educational, corporate, entrepreneurial, democratic etc but unfortunately the media often only shows the bad stuff

[11:49] Cindy Ecksol: @arabella YES!!

[11:49] Quinn Houston: I also brought a RL travel stop businnes, to sl, to those who can not come to visit the real place, can vist the one is sl. They can slurl in from the website. They see/hear the same stuff they would if they were at the real place.

[11:49] arabella Ella: and the full potential of SL and other virtual sims is not yet being realised

[11:49] JenzZa Misfit: ..... SL offers a potpourri of possibilities ...thats POP to you and me !

[11:49] Saijanai Kuhn: thats only the most important issue for MIrror Worlds

[11:49] Zen Zeddmore: who cares what PUSH media says anymore?

[11:49] Joia Sands: Quinn, what's the SLurl?

[11:50] CeAire Decosta: Agreed arabella! The bad stuff makes the news, the rest doesn't "sell the paper."

[11:50] Bjerkel Eerie: do not ask for teh "meaning" of a word, ask it's use - Ludwig Wittgenstein

[11:50] Cindy Ecksol: smart guy, old ludwig!

[11:50] Aldon Huffhines: Yeah... I like this a lot....

[11:50] Bevan Whitfield: but still the media circus is not such a bad thing...

[11:50] Bjorlyn Loon: nice point arabella... and it is important to note that the intent for any particular use by content creators may not match the reason users use or enjoy that content.

[11:50] arabella Ella: yea i spoke on SL at a conference a few days ago and said i am on SL and the glares i got were tremendous

[11:50] Codey Miles: OK a "toy" in the sense of supporting indefinite uses, rather than only a single goal.

[11:50] Aldon Huffhines: Are there similar standards coming for avatar definitions or object definitions?

[11:51] Troy McLuhan: He said they support OBJ and Sketchup (COLLADA)

[11:51] Bevan Whitfield: Oh wow arabella, why?

[11:51] CeAire Decosta: SLurl - Second Life URL

[11:51] Bjorlyn Loon: for example, an organization may provide a program for educational reasons, which is attended by users for social networking reasons

[11:51] CDB Barkley: People seem to want one meaning for alll... get stuck in our own viewpoints

[11:51] Quinn Houston: a slurl is like a url , so from my website I put the URL on my webiste, they click it and can tp right to it You must resister for sl to get in, and many of my visitors do just that.

[11:51] Hydra Shaftoe: time zones

[11:51] Hydra Shaftoe: I met yesha. nice guy

[11:51] Saijanai Kuhn: AWG...

[11:52] arabella Ella: why? because the media never gives space to the positive aspects of SL such as enterpreneurship, education, discussions, democracy, exchange of info etc

[11:52] Joia Sands: Quinn, I would like to know how to get to your website or your sim :) Info please?

[11:52] JenzZa Misfit: ... " in summary :: whatever SL is ... .it is so cool .... people are willing to put up with wearing their shoe on their rump at times " ... thats what SL is

[11:52] Saijanai Kuhn: when will AWG be given time in these things?

[11:52] Bevan Whitfield: or going bald JenzZa...

[11:52] JenzZa Misfit: ....yea that

[11:52] JenzZa Misfit: lol

[11:52] CeAire Decosta: The technology is evolving.

[11:53] Bjerkel Eerie: does anyone come to SL to get factual informantion???

[11:53] Cindy Ecksol: I suppose that's "factual info"

[11:53] Saijanai Kuhn: There's been a LOT iof disccussions about this.

[11:54] Quinn Houston: I can help you in more detail later if you like :)

[11:54] arabella Ella: there is lots of factual info on SL but only for those who want it and there are lots of people here who want to learn more via SL

[11:54] Saijanai Kuhn sighs. As though we haven't discussed this stuff many times...

[11:54] Bjerkel Eerie: but it is "meta"nomics, but deffinition "beyond" or "outside" of sl,

[11:54] JenzZa Misfit: .... Saijanai .... I think if you IM Beyers after this event ....... he will gladly listen to the possibility of featuring AWG on a future show

[11:58] JenzZa Misfit: **** We would like to thank you ALL for attending and participating today *** WE ARE SECOND LIFE ! *** and we rock ! period. :))

[11:58] Troy McLuhan: The business consequences of standards and protocols aren't always easy to predict - there are emergent phenomena

[11:58] Beyers Sellers: Robert Gehorsam

[11:58] Yxes Delacroix: Robert Gehorsam

[11:58] Bevan Whitfield: Robert Gehorsam

[11:59] Zen Zeddmore: LOL

[12:00] arabella Ella: we first need to learn more about how we humans think before we move on to cats

[12:00] Cindy Ecksol: credit to Kate Long http://katelong.com/

[12:00] Typewriter Tackleberry: Publishing or academic research needs to happen =)

[12:00] Dizzy Banjo really agrees with that stuff

[12:00] arabella Ella: we also need to publish more serious research on SL and its positive aspects

[12:01] Alanagh Recreant: I agree Typewriter

[12:01] CeAire Decosta: Cats are too logical for us to ever understand!

[12:01] Intellagirl Tully: 2008 is the year if rigour

[12:01] Typewriter Tackleberry: right on arabella

[12:01] arabella Ella: ty

[12:01] Bevan Whitfield: Dogs need masters - cats need servants.

[12:01] CeAire Decosta: Yup!

[12:01] JenzZa Misfit: lol

[12:01] Zen Zeddmore: Second Life as a Platform for Augmented Reality http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2i-W9ncV_0

[12:01] Bevan Whitfield agrees with arabella

[12:01] CeAire Decosta: Yes, people are learning because it is engaging more of the senses than just a flat page of text.

[12:02] Intellagirl Tully: join the SLRL (second life researchers list) to see ongoing research projects being discussed

[12:04] JenzZa Misfit: Type ! LOL

[12:04] Hydra Shaftoe: heh I have a friend that's 31 years old and still in school to be a spinal cord surgeon.

[12:04] Saijanai Kuhn: not that surprising. Cartoons are often better learning tools than more realistic solutions. Less extraneous info being imparted during the teaching stage
