Vint Falken: errr, i mean, i would not mind to sit on keystone's lap :d
Cindy Ecksol: hi, all at CN. just a reminder that we've got a chatbridge running, so anything you say in chat will be "heard" at all of the sites. We "hear" their text in green....ours is white to us but green to the others.

Bjorlyn Loon: Roy, you have a chair up front
Adluna Dagger: is it timer
Strawberry Fride: I see and hear fragments of noise and blocks of video every 5 seconds on the screen but it's unusable :( Hoping to get another machine in a sec to see if can access the site
G2 Proto: no wall-e cracks
Coughran Mayo: maxi-tray?
Jag Nishi: There gonna be a trial, or are the judges here on vacation?
Cindy Ecksol: if you're not getting audio and video now, tap me in IM and I'll try to help
Coughran Mayo: ah the Metanomics theme song
Bjorlyn Loon: Virtual Worlds Conference: http://www.virtualworlds2008.com/.
Jag Nishi: Works for me.
Hydra Shaftoe: Yeah the Aeole did fly, but you couldn't steer it. hence why it hit a tree
TommyJW Ninetails: wiki-type content
Vint Falken: yeeeey! =)

JenzZa Misfit: 800K lindens ...is about 3000 USD
CSharp Writer: that's a warcraft map
Nany Kayo: its a nice prize.
Coughran Mayo: If Sl required math, this would be a ghost town
Nany Kayo: lol
Jag Nishi: US$2,817.52
Olando7 Decosta: lol
JenzZa Misfit: lol @ Coughran
Jag Nishi: As of 1 minute ago
Hydra Shaftoe: it's $2817

Frans Tomsen: x 40,343 :)
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: Im old, damn it...
CleoPatra Guyot: yeah!
G2 Proto: looks great
CleoPatra Guyot: inventory reform!
Crystam Flyer: :) shhhhhhh
ALALibraryVal Miles: Voice or video?
Hydra Shaftoe: the ability to open multiple copies of inventory would be great
Jag Nishi: either or
Coughran Mayo: doh
Jag Nishi: You can open multiple inventory windows
Jag Nishi: Inventory Window > File > New Window
Coughran Mayo: might need a class on that Jag
Coughran Mayo: it appears to be more complicated than we thought
Nany Kayo: But you still have a hard time working with the folders once the windows are open. The folders pop open and closed randomly when you try to move object between them
Jag Nishi: SL is complexity in motion.
Jag Nishi: Been playing since 2004 and still haven't figured it all out.
Coughran Mayo: /me slaps himself silly
Bjorlyn Loon: amazing work!
Coughran Mayo: what does the butterfly button do....new command: "Flit"

Jacek Antonelli: Congrats to all :)
Coughran Mayo: Congrats to all of them.....very cool designs
Star Thiemem: congratulations
Austen Scanlan: Wander bar
Nany Kayo: I dont really understand the "first hour" thing. Most people waste more time choosing an avatar.
Widget Whiteberry: Congratulations!!
Osiris Pfalz: Congratulations!
IYan Writer: great entries by all
Salem Sella: Congrats !!!
Salem Sella: good job all1
Roy Cassini: Congrats all!
JenzZa Misfit: **CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE ! *****

Whump Linden: did anyone else lose the audio stream?
Coughran Mayo: People will be winning "Dusans" for years to come
Nany Kayo: yay
Salem Sella: Congrats Rheda
Bjorlyn Loon: STAY TUNED: UP NEXT Enhancing Your View
JenzZa Misfit: the golden dusan !
Widget Whiteberry: Virtual Worlds is separate from 'content'?
Olando7 Decosta: no whump not me
Jag Nishi: /me just ignores the viewer and plays with the content until it breaks.
Jag Nishi: /me then just rebuilds it.
Bjorlyn Loon: DeepThink http://www.deepthink.com.au/
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: hehe
Jag Nishi: Can probably stream it manually, can view the URLs with view admin options.
Bjorlyn Loon: OpenSimulator Platform http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
Bjorlyn Loon: You may also know adam as • Chief Technical Architect at SineWave Company http://www.sinewavecompany.com/
Nany Kayo: we will be copying things from chat trash heaps onto notecards without even basic copy and paste functions from now on, I guess.
Jag Nishi: Cool, like google, just less griefing. Google's SL copy is horridly insecure.
JenzZa Misfit: yaya Adam !
Saijanai: Oh, grats on the engagement, Adam
Tara5 Oh: Lively is Active X and thus in the "scary plugin" category
Jag Nishi: ActiveX is awesome, plus a lot more secure since IE7.
Saijanai: hmmm
Jag Nishi: Then again, anything you agree to trust on your system, make sure you know the source.
Austen Scanlan: The fact that Explorer's lates browser can't fully accomodate CSS should say something.
Tara5 Oh: Active X is also a very old technology
Jag Nishi: been updated like most stuff out there.
Dizzy Banjo: greetings metanomics peeps around the grid
Tara5 Oh: greetings Dizzy!
Malburns Writer: heya Dizzy
JenzZa Misfit: DizzzzzzZZZZzz y !
Coffee Service (Click for a cup): gives a cup of hot coffee to Gwenette Writer
Bjorlyn Loon: Linden Lab's 2007 • User Interface Roadmap: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User_Interface_Roadmap
Bjorlyn Loon: 2007 UI Forum Transcript: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/UI_Forum_Transcript
Jag Nishi: The ToS hasn't been changed to reflect use or modifications of clients, isn't there potential for breaking the ToS and getting in trouble?
Bjorlyn Loon: good question Jag
Nany Kayo: I really want some of these folks to try copying a fast paced 1 hr meeting with 10 people they have never met before, all of whom are posting email addresses and urls into open chat onto a notecard and sort it out.
Jag Nishi: Seen accounts get axed when reverse engineered copies of SL were being used
Nany Kayo: try to do business that way
Dusan Writer: /me applauds
Dizzy Banjo: /me thinks that whilst removing viewer UI design issues and embedding the viewer in a browser is welcome, it is only part of the retention issue.
Tara5 Oh: my pleasure!
Bjorlyn Loon: TISH's BLOG ARTICLE: http://www.ugotrade.com/2008/08/08/will-the-future-of-virtual-worlds-be-...
Maali Beck: lol
Malburns Writer: yay Tish !!!
Bjorlyn Loon: also: Tech Crunch, Philip Linden article and video: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/07/31/philip-rosedale-doesnt-see-browser-... Philip Rosedale Doesn’t See Browser-Based Virtual Worlds As A Threat to Second Life. Is He In Denial?
Widget Whiteberry: Nano, I work from the chat log and first c/p it ino a new text edit doc
Hydra Shaftoe: A browser based sl client would be pretty darned handy
Tara5 Oh: and http://www.realityprime.com/articles/some-definitions
Hydra Shaftoe: just go to the website and off you go
Bjorlyn Loon: AVI BAR-ZEEV's DEFINITIONS OF THESE DISTINCTIONS: http://www.realityprime.com/articles/some-definitions
Jag Nishi: Silverlight!
Bjorlyn Loon: beat me Tara5!
Hydra Shaftoe: the simple fact you have to install software puts a lot of people off
Jag Nishi: flash =P
Bjorlyn Loon: and Avi's other blog content on this subject: http://www.realityprime.com/articles/volumes-of-reading
TommyJW Ninetails: how about a linux based boot disk based on recent RedHat or so to allow gramma to use it
Jag Nishi: Can run SL without 3d acceleration.
CSharp Writer: Sadly, Flash and Silverlight can't do the hardcore stuff we need for good #D expereince in browser
Bjorlyn Loon: Xenki.... cool snowcrash reference
JenzZa Misfit: windows 2000 !!!!!
JenzZa Misfit: /me faints
CSharp Writer: X = XBAP Enki = snowcrash refrence to ancient god
Jag Nishi: Using a modded to heck NEC MobilePro 900c to run SL right now.
Bjorlyn Loon: and here are some XENKI Links FROM ADAM: http://www.adamfrisby.com/blog/2008/08/you-beauty/ http://www.adamfrisby.com/blog/2008/08/xenki-renderer-now-less-brokentm/
Jag Nishi: Using Windows CE .Net 4.2
JenzZa Misfit: ... Jag ! make it work for blackberrry !! k ? thanks !
CSharp Writer: XBAP overview = http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa970060.aspx
Bjorlyn Loon: FROM ADAM’S BLOG:
Xenki is basically an XBAP 3D application that works like a Java Applet. It embeds libomv for networking - so we can connect to Second Life / OpenSim style world without any issues. It does not need to be installed and runs just from within the browser by visiting a page. We can put it in a ‘portal’ on the webpage by using an IFRAME (similar to how Lively operates, except it uses an ActiveX control for rendering).
Jag Nishi: Mind reflashing the blackberry with CE? =D
Bjorlyn Loon: Thank you CSharp!
CSharp Writer: :)
JenzZa Misfit: um no ... not if SL itself could be Bbased
G2 Proto: I think he is referring to the limited worlds not the technology
CSharp Writer: yea!!!! adam has it right
G2 Proto: to view it
JenzZa Misfit: you log in ... youre there .... and 10 minutes later youre gone :)
Jag Nishi: SL doesn't take that much to install.
Coughran Mayo: It's like going to Xenia Ohio though, you're there, but there's nothing to do
Maali Beck: hehehe, JenzZa
CSharp Writer: true, but higher friction than web
G2 Proto: exactly
JenzZa Misfit: Coughran ! lol
Malburns Writer: Also in Techcrunch was video of Brad Greenspan project CitySpace. This seems based on an OTOY 3d engine that runs in browsers - does Adam know of this/about this?
Sola Phobos: Actually, I spent my first hour customizing my av... that is what kept me in.
Jag Nishi: Have a buddy port you out of orientation island or go through one of the easilly escapable portal and go striaght to where you like to go.
Dizzy Banjo: i think this is a discussion about the process of getting in .. its not about a comparison of the actual worlds content. If you compare the actual content of SL with any social virtual world, there is no contest.
JenzZa Misfit: Jag ...exactly ! bring on the fun zone on log in !
Nany Kayo: first hour is diddly. They should entertain people in a better new user area for the first hour if its that important
Jag Nishi: Just get a gradeschool chess team and give them crystal meth.
JenzZa Misfit: /me notes her 15 minute " how to be an avatar " crash course
Austen Scanlan: Where is an external developer tool using MAYA, SketchUp?
Strawberry Fride: lost sound?
Coughran Mayo: JenzZa....shameless
Malburns Writer: lost Beyers spound !!!
Adluna Dagger: me to
Maali Beck: oops.....lost the feed?
Jag Nishi: Farewell audio/video
Crystam Flyer: oeps
Mikelo Serevi: me 3
Austen Scanlan: sound gone...
G2 Proto: silencio
CSharp Writer: nooo!
JenzZa Misfit: step 1 . make an avatar step 2. crash step 3 . repeat
Dahlia Trimble: sound is dead :(
Hydra Shaftoe: Rabble rabble rabble!
Strawberry Fride: /me is glad it's not just me this time
Adluna Dagger: vidoe gone
CeAire Decosta: And silence falls.....
CSharp Writer: i repent my evil ways just gimme sound back
Frans Tomsen: such is life in the colonies...
JenzZa Misfit: ** THE STREAM IS DOWN *
Coughran Mayo: /me zooms in on Beyers to lip read
Jag Nishi: SL crashing? Haven't had that happen in weeks.
Maali Beck: (crickets)
Robert Bloomfield: hold on a moment, all
Coughran Mayo: Beyers says:
Gwenette Writer: Holding:)
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: hmm, snow crash...
JenzZa Misfit: we heare you texase
Robert Bloomfield: darn...I was just announcing that I am taking over M Linden's job!
JenzZa Misfit: but the stream is down
Robert Bloomfield: and this is what happens!
Coughran Mayo: and then he says:
Vint Falken: QUESTION what do you expect for SLIm? is it a client that is less related to 'second life' (brushing up linden reputation), will it be a 'light' client? ... any expectations? or just fear? ;)
CSharp Writer: can hear just faint
Austen Scanlan: What we need is someone to sign....
Michele Mrigesh: It's just like cable...*poof* gone in an instant
Dusan Writer: my own comment and take on Otoy btw: http://dusanwriter.com/?p=802
Garret Bakalava: anyone els lose sound
Vint Falken: let's do this old time, chat? :d
TommyJW Ninetails: actually I haven't has sl crash in a while. I'm impresses
Gwenette Writer: Go Jen
Jag Nishi: Wondering where all the cache in a browser based SL would go and if people could rip content from it easilly.
CeAire Decosta: Who forgot to pay the utility bill?
Maali Beck: shhhhhh.......don't talk about the 'c' word!
Marcus Fiertze: /me lost sound
Dusan Writer: curious whether Otoy is working or whether it's cityspace that's the vaporware
CSharp Writer: lol
Olando7 Decosta: this is censorship, but beyers should not have tried that armed uprising.
Nany Kayo: I think it took me about 4 hours online to begin finding for things I really wanted to do here. It takes a couple of hours just to visit a dozen locations.
TommyJW Ninetails: need SL/opensim boot disk, with default avi so gramma gets to visit
JenzZa Misfit: ** standby everyone ** SLCN is having problems broadcasting ****
Austen Scanlan: Do they know where quiet?
Malburns Writer: Prob same as SL client cache at present
Dizzy Banjo: yeah surely Linden will just wait until various people have slaved trying out various ways of doing browser based integration, then either aquire or copy the best one.
Coughran Mayo: /me is listening to the stream in LIvely now
G2 Proto: I agree
G2 Proto: video gaming via RDP
Jag Nishi: I do scripting, which is a pain to rip off in SL, but texture theft as well as model theft is becoming huge with some large corporate SL entities.
Dusan Writer: /me nods
G2 Proto: not with todays pipes
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: good, just in time for a smoke
CSharp Writer: very, very, very faint
G2 Proto: not in 5-10 years
Dusan Writer: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/08/11/liveplace-to-launch-photo-realistic...
Maali Beck: Today's program is brought to you by the letter C.......
Maali Beck: programs CRASH
Olando7 Decosta: willie, linden lab kills u this way, by making u smoke
Maali Beck: /me passes cookies around
G2 Proto: ill build my own gaming rig thank you
Bjorlyn Loon: By the way, everyone.... we are experiencing some audio and video difficulties LIVE. Please STAND BY
Malburns Writer: Agreed Dizzy - though wponders what would happen if a project did not want to be "bought in" by Lindens and was a major development
Vint Falken: silence?
Gwenette Writer: oooo vw gossip thanks Dusan
G2 Proto: not that dumb terminals were not a blast....
Texas Timtam: Sorry for the delay.
Bjorlyn Loon: I should also paste the link for Benjamin Linden's office hours, where the viewer is always the topic: TO COMMENT ON THE INTERFACE AND GIVE IDEAS: Benjamin Linden's office hours! * When: Thursdays @ 3:00-4:00 PM PST * Where: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Beaumont/148/155/46/
CeAire Decosta: Ya gotta know this is SL - if it's gonna crash! But until something better comes along....!!!!
CSharp Writer: yep live is live no matter how you do it, the dark angel of events is always looming waiting to kill your sound or ppt slides
Gwenette Writer: compression compression compression hehe
Adam Zaius: This was my comments on CItySpace: http://www.adamfrisby.com/blog/2008/08/oh-look-vapourware/
Jag Nishi: With anything, plan on something going wrong.
Bjorlyn Loon: does anyone have the link for the Cityscape project?
Hydra Shaftoe: Rabble rabble rabble!
Bjorlyn Loon: oops I think Dusan just gave it
Bjorlyn Loon: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/08/11/liveplace-to-launch-photo-realistic...
Dusan Writer: there's nothing on the cityspace site but that's the techcrunch i posted before
Nany Kayo: Benjamin Linden's office hours seem to be restricted to a specific team and meeting agenda that is not posted. I never figured out how to introduce a topic. All he told me was to post it to JIRA and maybe someone would read it, maybe not.
Jag Nishi: This video looks familiar.
G2 Proto: remember The Phantom gaming system?
Dizzy Banjo: well they clearly need to do browser integration at some point, and UI improvement, but as I said, the key asset of a world is .. its assets.. the content after the login and beyond the UI design. Lively's total lack of this has clearly demonstrated this.
TommyJW Ninetails: protocols and interface needs to be open for smaller group development
G2 Proto: games in "the could"
Jag Nishi: Haha
Jag Nishi: Phantom failed
G2 Proto: never existed
CSharp Writer: yeah it looks interesting but the claims on implementation are...suspect
Bjorlyn Loon: STILL RESOLVING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES.... PLEASE STAND BY
Jag Nishi: It did on paper
Malburns Writer: httyp://www.liveplace.com - but nnothing there yet
CSharp Writer: yeah just an image there
G2 Proto: same with this video streaming, imagine the joyous lag of RDP gaming
Bjorlyn Loon: our sponsors are getting some extra attention!
McCabe Maxsted: nany: posting on sl-ux is a good way to introduce a topic for his office hours
G2 Proto: or compressed video instead of anti aliasing
Nany Kayo: You cant just show up and ask a question at the User Interface office hours.
Dizzy Banjo: ah that Liveplace video was just a VC promo
JenzZa Misfit: *** SLCN is working on the technicals everyone -- thank you for your patience ! ****
Nany Kayo: SL UX?
G2 Proto: its great for phones :)
McCabe Maxsted: https://lists.secondlife.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sl-ux
JenzZa Misfit: /me fumbles with her blackberry
Nany Kayo: thanks
McCabe Maxsted: user experience mailing list
Saijanai Kuhn: wanted to push the ultra lightweight client we're workign on: pyogp Python-based OpenGrid protocols and test harness
Hydra Shaftoe: omg jenzza's a yuppie
Jag Nishi: blackberries are too slow =P
JenzZa Misfit: Hydra ! business tool !!!! * pointing at you *
Jag Nishi: i just looked up the specs
Jag Nishi: and ouch
Dusan Writer: good point Saijanai
G2 Proto: Jag the tool fits the job, long battery life etc, its not a PDA
Saijanai Kuhn: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Pyogp
Jag Nishi: I mean for SL
Malburns Writer: the engine at http://www.otoy.com/site/start was interesting though
JenzZa Misfit: but Jag ! I can tether it to my laptop for mobile web !
Saijanai Kuhn: still an infant but it could maure to do lots of things like simple IM and the like
Jag Nishi: Had to cram a 720mhz xscale into my mobilepro for this to work
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: aha, my first meeting is already a succes, time for another smoke
Bjorlyn Loon: WE SHOULD BE RESUMING SHORTLY
JenzZa Misfit: **Stand by eveyrone ******
G2 Proto: right they didnt think about 3D yet for Blackberry, low power, long life, reliable
Hydra Shaftoe: 5 pm. time to go :)
Jag Nishi: using rudimentary 3d on it
JenzZa Misfit: can you fix mine then, G2 ? lol
Jag Nishi: nothing needing accelerators
Tara5 Oh: yes!
Saijanai Kuhn: so any geeks that want to help program a viewer from scratch feel free to get involved
G2 Proto: haha yes well wife can
G2 Proto: shes good
Vint Falken: we hear you fine =)
Jag Nishi: no textures for the win
Ven Zimer: got voice
Vint Falken: saijanai, if you need a button designed, lemme know :D
TommyJW Ninetails: on reg voice you are fine
Jag Nishi: has voice and audio stream support as well as rudimentary WMV support
Strawberry Fride: I love running SL on my Eee
Strawberry Fride: reminds me of Monkey Island
Jag Nishi: haha
Jag Nishi: /me needs to tear into his Windows Mobile 6 kit.
JenzZa Misfit: /me wont admit a thing about guitar hero 3 .... on her BB !
WillieThePimp Reifsnider: hmm... prima thesismateriaal...
Coughran Mayo: I hear static, thts a good sign
Cindy Ecksol: coffee and cake anyone?
JenzZa Misfit: unless its your h/drive
Jag Nishi: Flight 42 come in, do you read me flight 42!?
CSharp Writer: Cake or Death!!!
Dusan Writer: need an interface saijanai? we have 6 we can mash up
Saijanai Kuhn: for the truely geek-at-heart who wants to play with the OGP OpenSim and get your gridnaut bear: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Grid_Public_Beta/Open_Sim_OGP_How_T...
Strawberry Fride: the cake is a lie
shadow: Greeting Coffee .
Coffee Service (Click for a cup): gives a cup of hot coffee to Michele Mrigesh
Nany Kayo: Its extremely difficult to conduct ordinary business meetings here in SL because the communication tools suck. Voice is not the answer. You cant communicate precise spellings and punctuation needed for urls and names in voice. Half the people in the meeting will not have voice enabled or will not be able to get it adjusted. You are forced to rely on open chat and copy to notecards from a scrolling screen. Then try to edit it back into something that makes usable sense. I mean, wtf?
JenzZa Misfit: professor bloomfield / in the conservatory / with CAKE !
G2 Proto: silly cakeeaters
Adam Zaius: The cake is delicious and moist.
G2 Proto: and sugar free?
Cindy Ecksol: hey, it's better than just sitting around watching ads on a screen :-)
Vincent Nacon: sorry but the cake is a lie
Vint Falken: Nany, what are your suggestions for improving them? :d
CleoPatra Guyot: this is truly tragic
Nany Kayo: lol
CSharp Writer: Nany, i feel ur pain, i was talking to someone today about the need for reliable voice and office-type apps inworld
CeAire Decosta: Hello MikeUB!
Coughran Mayo: Cake is your Friend
Cindy Ecksol: I promise your av will not get fat eating this cake....
G2 Proto: :( cake is the enemy
CSharp Writer: i like pie
Jag Nishi: weird, BnT still hasnt sent griefers in yet
JenzZa Misfit: ....scrolling screen is not really an issue --- log the chat to your harddrive for example
CSharp Writer: pie > cake
Vint Falken: bnt? competition to SLNN or smth?
G2 Proto: pie :) :(
JenzZa Misfit: pie ! *perk*
Sola Phobos: pi > pie
Jag Nishi: BnT is an inworld company that runs fake banks and sells bunk "stocks"
JenzZa Misfit: pi are round
Nany Kayo: I can come up with suggestions, but how do I get them read by someone with the authority to implement? And why should it be necessary to point out something so obvious? Havent any of the LL staff actually tried to conduct a business meeting here?
MikeUB Michigan: Classes starting>? or in session?
CSharp Writer: pi > mmmmmm pie? put down the crack pipe
Vincent Nacon: BNT is too busy filling out their bankruptcy form
